Ellen’s practice focuses on the advocacy and trial of a broad range of complex civil matters. She has tried several cases to verdict in North Carolina State Courts and regularly handles cases in North Carolina Federal Courts and appeals before the North Carolina Appellate Courts. Ellen also regularly represents and defends community associations by providing legal services to developers, homeowner, condominium and boat owner associations. She prepares and evaluates governing documents, reviews contracts, and provides legal advice on issues arising within planned communities.
Her academic honors include induction into Phi Beta Kappa, designation as Top Graduate in the Speech Communication department at the University of Tennessee, and as a Wake Law Faculty Scholar at Wake Forest University School of Law. Her civic honors include serving as Co-Chair of the North Carolina Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division Membership Committee, 2003 – 2005, member of the Board of Directors of the New Hanover County Bar Association, 2008-2011, member of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Women In The Profession Committee, 2012-2014, and member of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Insurance Law Council 2014, 2016-2018.
Ellen was named one of North Carolina’s 2011 and 2012 Rising Stars in Business Litigation, was recognized by Best Lawyer’s in America for personal injury-defense litigation in 2015 and 2016.
